Overcome Clinics with Lakshmi Om

Our Overcome Clinics, led by Lakshmi Om, Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapist and Certified Professional Facilitator, are designed to help those who suffer from General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder and PTSD. It is taught privately or in a group setting either in person or on Zoom.

We offer eight-week Overcome Clinics meeting once weekly for 90 minutes.

7 Main Concepts of Overcome!

1. Learning to Manage Difficult Moments: right away we learn how to self regulate or reprogram our nervous system away from up-regulated (anxious) or down-regulated (depressed) to balanced.

2. Education is Power: we focus on understanding what is going on in your body and mind during dysregulated moments, so you can see how changes can be made and implement the tools of the program for self regulation. Through education you can see how past events shaped your current dysregulation and how to reprogram them for healing.

3. Attention Leads to Awareness: as you learn to attend to what is happening within you, you learn to control your Re-actions and overcome triggers and harmful habits. To be aware is to be present. To be present is to be powerful.

4. Self-study to Reframe Thoughts: through the study of yoga and the causes of human suffering, you will learn to study your self and develop a plan that helps you to reframe your thoughts towards success and health.

5. Awaken Your Inner Power: past residue of trauma and life experience may obscure our awareness of our own inner power. Through the clinic we connect into this inner power through self regulation and awareness. 

6. Find Choice through Clarity and Calm: self regulation brings clarity of perspective, clarity of thought, and clarity of purpose. Making choices with clarity and calm, instead of Re-acting, allows you to grown in confidence, self awareness and health.

7. Self-Mastery cultivates Freedom: self-mastery is the ability to be aware, in control of your self and your decisions, and able to take responsibility for your actions and choices. It leads to a positive and fulfilled life rooted in self-awareness, compassion, and acceptance.

Create Your Own Self-Healing Program Through Education

The main focus of this series is providing you with an education that includes a step-by-step process to create your own self-healing program that you practice daily on your own. We guide you to get to the root of the problem, typically the residue of past experiences that are locked into a mind/body connection. These past experiences elicit warnings that stress our nervous system and can have debilitating effects. The information given in each meeting is intended for you to work through during the two weeks between sessions. We provide you with a workbook, a booklet with educational support information if you want to dig in deeper, audio recordings with guided practices, sequence sheets, and a self-regulation toolbox to help you uncover your inner power and gain control over a run away nervous system.

Our sessions will introduce you to a neuropsychological explanation of triggers so you understand what is happening internally when triggered, and the process of reprogramming your responses to eliminate the triggers.  Conscious use of self-healing tools are profoundly liberating when combating the debilitating effects of anxiety and feelings of being stuck.

Learning breathwork, meditation and gentle movement techniques help break the psychological, behavioral, biochemical, and physical cycles that keep anxiety in your life, and eventually completely overcome anxiety.

How This Impacts You

Most often, people who experience chronic dysregulation have compromised bodily awareness and a sense of being out of control of their body/mind.  In our first session, we jump right into the tools to “down-regulate” the fight or flight response or to “up-regulate” feelings of being shut down, and how to “turn on” the relaxation response. These are tools for managing difficult moments as we work on the long-term project of re-programing our neural networks to break triggers, thereby regaining control of our nervous system and our inner peace circuitry.

It’s A Deeply Personal Experience – No Group Discussions

Our presentations include visual aids but all work is private. We do not ask you to turn in your journal responses or self-study work. We appreciate and respect the challenges those that are not comfortable in social situations face and are particularly sensitive to those needs. If additional support feels right for you, you may invite a spouse, friend or family member to attend with you.

I was initially attracted to how the program draws from yoga therapy and techniques, and after completing Overcome, I now feel that I have the tools to cope with the anxieties and panic that have accompanied me in daily life for so long in a way that I was not able to before. I believe this is also because Overcome is structured in a way that quickly expands your knowledge and toolset, and along with Lakshmi’s guidance, input, and understanding, it made this a really meaningful experience.
